Great location, good for two couples. Some deferred maintenance noted--old appliances and limited cooking supplies. Wayne was very responsive to questions and requests.
We had a great stay at Mauna Lani Terrace while I was there for a meeting at the Mauna Lani resort. The walk over to the resort was about 5-10 minutes and absolutely gorgeous--it was actually the highlight of the day. Our son loved the fish ponds and the beaches, where he found a new sea creature every day, from turtles to eels to sea urchins. The condo was clean, comfortable and everything was in good working order and easy to access. Loved it, thank you!
Staying at L101 of the Mauna Lani Terrace was excellent. We were debating between hotel & this condo and we made the right choice. The cost of this apartment was basically the same per night as the hotel, and the condo was so much more for the money -- two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a nice kitchen with dining room & living room, plus a private lanai with a sunset view (and a tiny glimpse of the ocean waves). We needed the extra room for our baby son to nap (extra bedroom) and eat (dining room/kitchen) and it was perfect for us. It's not beachfront and it's ground floor, but it looks out on a natural park built-around ancient Hawaii fishing pools. I actually enjoyed the windy paths through the pools until you get to the ocean -- totally worth trading off an ocean view from your hotel (how often will you be in the room?) Downsides over the hotel were (1) doing our laundry to have fresh towels (but having the washer/dryer was great for the baby!) and (2) the ground floor unit definitely gets more creepy-crawlies coming in from wild Hawaii than a 5th floor hotel room (However, we did like the ground floor unit because of the grassy area for our son to play and it was nice to be able to walk right out from Lanai over to the beach). Wayne from Kona Sunsets was responsive and easy to work with (He even tried to help with the bugs by having the property manager spray around our unit while we were there). Overall, highly recommended. Once we're ready to fly 13 hours from New Jersey to Hawaii again (not easy with a 1 year old!) we'll be back.
Overall we enjoyed the stay. Place was clean and well stocked. Overall, our only issue was we didn't quite realize it was the far back location, which would be helpful to know. We like Mauni Launi Terraces
Great location. Loved the beach - nice quiet, calm water. Great for snorkeling, kayaking or for young children. Close to great state park beach to boogie board - Hapuna State Park. Unit was quiet and nice. Would recommend and would stay there again. Kitchen drawers should be cleaned along with broiler pan (or buy a new one). Did not cook in the unit but looked like everything you would need was available.
The Terraces are a primo spot on the Kohala coast--really nothing else compares to their location and the setup of the development, along the coast and the fishponds. The proximity to such diverse activities is fantastic--the Beach Club, snorkelling, the hotel restaurants, the Shops at Mauna Lani, just perfect. The development is beautiful and maturely landscaped--11 buildings on 13 acres, with 6 condos per building. Seems to be best for adults as the pool area discourages younger kids from playing--but there is the beach nearby, so that's great for kids. Also, it's the kind of place where quiet is a real attraction. This unit is on the ground floor, a huge bonus in that you just walk out across the lanai to the path around the fishponds. Being on the ground floor, though, makes it a little darker as it's surrounded by very lush tropical plants which provide a great deal of privacy as the trade-off. Wayne, the property manager, was terrific and took care of any issues that arose--rapidly and completely. All in all, I would stay at the Terraces again in a heartbeat.
We really enjoyed our stay in L101!This is our 8th time to Mauna Lani and 2nd stay in the Terrace.Family of 4...kids 11 and 13. It was great to have nice private bedrooms, great view, private lanais and great barbeque grills at the pool. The grounds were very well taken care of and our nightly visits from the Gecko were great. I dont know how, but some how he managed to get in the condo even with the screens closed. They are fast! The Beach Club was fabulous as normal. Thanks. We will be back!
I've been to the Mauna Lani Resort a few times in the past and always noted how the Terrace condos have the very best location. This time we chose to stay at the Terrace and I feel we got a very good value for this rental through Kona Sunsets. The condo was large, very clean and everything worked perfectly. I have two young kids and we loved the beach club and seeing turtles on the beach. Our only "complaint" (if you could call it that) is that the swimming pool at the Terrace condos does not allow any playing in it - there are multiple signs at the pool saying no playing and "no noise." So we didn't feel we could use the pool because, while we are not unusually loud and we don't yell, it just seemed like they didn't want kids in there at all. When we did use the pool, a lady there shushed my daughter although she was only talking to me while swimming (she wasn't being loud.) Other than that, it was a perfect trip and Mauna Lani is a perfect destination - my favorite in all of Hawaii.
We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with our kids in tow and had a wonderful time. The condo location is a perfect combonation of privacy and convenience. The furnishings added to the ambiance and suited all of our needs. We truly had a fabulous time and will be returning soon!
