The Terraces are perfectly located. This unit is slightly shabby (well-worn furniture) but the price was excellent.
Property needs some updating such as new dishes and sofa. Otherwise good value, clean, and great location.
MaunaLani area is as good as it gets on the Big Island. Access to Beach Club ammeneties is icing on the cake.
We spent 8 nights in this first floor Mauna Lani Terraces Condo. It was nicely equipped, easy to find and close to a beautiful beach and to the Mauna Lani resort Hotel. The main decision of each day was weather to just walk to the beach or get in the car and go somewhere. We mostly stayed on foot. Although I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone a couple of things should be noted. First, peace and quiet is king at this resort. If you are looking to party or have an active (aka noisy) family this isn't your kind of place. The only thing missing in the complex was any type of fitness facility. We missed having access to that. That said, the relaxation for my wife and I was much appreciated. In this particular condo a couple of things would have made our stay perfect. Although the unit had an ice chest we could fill with food and drink for the day it had no beach chairs to throw in the trunk and take to one of the State beaches. That would have been very useful. Also, essentially no beach towels, just a couple of small ones. Plenty of other linens, but a couple of fluffy beach towels would have been welcome. Other renters had commented negatively on the bed, an issue I had addressed with the owner prior to rental. As he said, there was a "topper" added to the mattress which probably helped and it was okay, but it would be better to have a nice new mattress given the quality of everything else. The one final annoyance was the lack of a menu guide on the cable TV. I know, it doesn't sound like much, but clicking thru a hundred channels one at a time to find something to watch in the evening was cumbersome. We enjoyed ourselves a lot and would rent there again without hesitation.
Except for the wind, which we cannot control, our stay was wonderful. The view from our balconies was beautiful. It was a very quiet location with well appointed interiors. The downfall is not knowing where the grocery store was located, but we found it!
Management (Wayne Twitchell) very responsive to our needs. Would rent from them again. I must say that the Living Room furniture could use an upgrade; just not very comfortable.
It is like friends loaned you their place for a week.
The Mauna Lani Terraces location is great. This is not a great condo--the view is somewhat blocked--but the price is amazing, and who spends time inside when they're in Hawaii?
We LOVED the location of the condo development! Views, access to amenities, etc. were terrific. Walking options kept us active each day, too. The pool area and Beach Club offered fun lounging and swimming in lovely settings. The unit met our expectations except for lving room furniture comfort and kitchen supplies, i.e. dishes, cooking and serving pieces, grater, small mixer, etc. No biggie...we survived. More matching dishes and silverware would make it possible to use the dishwasher only when really full. We like to cook and eat in, but others may not. Overall the kitchen was spacious and very nice. The master suite was great...separate vanities in the bathroom and VERY comfy king bed made that area just fine. Laundry was handy and we used the second bath like a powder room (only 2 of us). The sliding screen doors were a bit balky a lot of the time. Age? Maintenance? All in all we would return again and recommend this unit to friends. The resident property manager was also very accomodating by allowing us to print boarding passes in his office. We noticed a lot of signs indicating that noisy guests and children's activities would not be welcome. Families take notice! Perfect spot for those looking for peace and quiet, however!
The resort is hard to beat - great for whale watching, snorkeling is good, excellent walking trails, and golf courses that would make even a non-golfer want to be on the course. Ancient Hawaiian fishponds are outstanding, and we fed the fish and birds directly from the condo balcony. The condo was clean and nicely furnished. Bring your own toiletries, including soap. Bed squeaks upon every turn but otherwise comfy. Partial ocean view from inside the condo. Nice decks.
Watch the frount entrance stairs, very slippery when wet. Otherwise, property is very nice and we found Mauna Lani Resort to be very well maintained, great beach access, w/snorkeling, diving right on the property and a very nice market with lower prices than in town markets.
A beautiful, well appointed, very comfortable 1 bedroom condo. Great location, lagoon front, 2 lanais, couldn't ask for anything more!
This is such a wonderful place and great location. We stayed the the Ritz on Maui afterward and I missed this place! Great location wonderful sunsets short walk to beach! It's perfect. I cannot wait to go back!
Mauna Lani Terrace was a great place to stay and this condo was very comfortable. Only caveat is that I'm not sure it's the best place in the world to stay with a toddler. We were there with our 19-month old and there are a dozen signs at the pool stating "NO LOUD NOISES" which is a little tough with a child. The place was mostly empty when we stayed there, so it wasn't really a problem (and being next door to the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel is very nice and convenient) but it feels more appropriate as an adult vacation place. We had a great time and would recommend the property to anybody looking for a nice, relaxing, comfortable place to stay.
Have been to the Terraces at Mauna Lani many times. This was the best location. Everything was wonderful. Only suggestions are to replace the sliding screen doors to the lanais since. They are in direpair and very difficult to work. The one in the living room won't even close completely. Fix the fan in the bedroom, it makes a very annoying noise and the pocket door in the master bath can come off the track. If it was mine I would also provide a bit more comfortable seating in the living room. Overall however we would love to return and while these would be simple and great improvements it would not keep us from returning.
Our 1st time at ML Terrace (we've stayed at ML Hotel and ML Point before). Though an older property, it's in great shape and well maintained, has a lovely, overall ambience in a great location. We hope to plan a return trip.
Mauna Lani Terrace is a perfect location for enjoying a perfect vacation on the Big Island. The Terrace condo complex is well-managed and the grounds are immaculate and beautiful. The inside the condo itself was a big disappointment in such a beautiful setting. The mattress on the bed was an old, dirty disaster. If the owners really got it 2 years ago, then they must have found it at the dump. The management did get a new mattress and mattress cover after I checked into the condo, but that wasn't until the next day, so I couldn't spend the first night there. The new mattress is fine. The maintenance on the condo was way behind schedule. The thermostat, and therefore the AC, did not work. Simply a matter of changing the battery, but it didn't work when I arrived and someone had to fix it after I had been uncomfortable for a few days. Same with the master bath toilet, that ran continuously until it was mostly fixed (still runs a little). The bedside phone did not work until I noted it and then it was fixed. The bathtub was dirty when I arrived and so it remained -- I did not take a bath. The master shower was grungy with a mixture of months of soap scum, mold, and minerals from the water. I did some clean up on the shower floor just to be able to use it, but it still was yuck. It needed major cleaning, which I was not prepared to do on my vacation. The floors in the condo were dirty as were the counter tops in the kitchen. Some dishes on the shelves had dried on food them, so I washed whatever I used beforehand (and afterwards). The frig, microwave, and oven were clean. The furniture was OK. It just seemed that the condo had not been checked for proper functioning and cleanliness before I arrived, and i assume the previous visitors a week or so before my arrival paid the fee to have the condo cleaned upon their departure, but somehow that really did not happen. Even the sheets were rumpled and definitely not clean to common hotel standards. The m
Upon getting a 2nd complaint on the bed (the first was sagging) we decided to change it out. I purchased a Cal-King Serta along with a nutra-foam 3" topper and had it delivered and set up the next day. The guest was not charged for the first night. Within hours of complaints of A/C, phone, and toilet running I had someone there to correct the problems. The A/C as it turns out was shut off at the electric panel. The toilet had been fixed a week earlier but repaired again. The unit had been completely cleaned prior to the guest arrival, but upon departure I had the cleaners go in and due a general (construction) clean to insure there were no issues. A vase was broken during the guest stay which I was told was blown off the bedroom bureau as the sliding doors were left open. We did not charge the guest for the piece, but along with this wind would come dust that may have explained the floors. Personally I have never experienced winds of this nature at the unit. MLT E-102 is a lovely unit enjoyed by everyone else that has stayed there. We make every effort to have the unit in the best condition possible, and if issues arise we are there immediately to remedy them. We want our guests to have the best vacation experience possible and welcome all future reviews on this property.
Bed was very uncomfortable and needs replacing. Couch was also very uncomfortable. Overall we couldn't find a comfortable place to sit. Also the lockbox code we were given was wrong and did not work upon our arrival. Property manager onsite was snotty.
I spoke to the guest regarding this review. As a result we are looking into the bed to see what issues are present, and remedy them. The guest did say they have a $2000.00 posturepedic which may have been hard to duplicate. The owners had said the bed was replaced within the last 2 years. We replaced the couch recently with a sofa bed due to many requests from couples that have a child or older son and daughter. We will also look into. The complex after a long period of time had changed all the locks and we at the same time changed the combination to the lock box only days before the guests arrival. We spoke on the phone and they were given the correct combo. The onsite manager who they spoke to was someone they called about the Beach Club pass. I do not know who this person was, she was not a manager, but apparently was rude to them over the phone. We take all criticism seriously, and will evaluate these issues.
