Hale Kania Kai at Surf & Racquet 3302

So the outside grounds of the resort were beautiful and well kept. The view from this condo is amazing. I absolutely would not rent it again however. There were many things that needed fixing such as the kitchen faucet that was basically hanging by a thread, the wood chairs on the lanai, master bedroom shower door, second bedroom closet door, upstairs window pane, wood pieces coming off of the ceiling. The TV in the second bedroom didn't work and I asked for it to be looked at twice. The closet in that room was also so stuffed full of nonsense that we couldn't use it. We had to ask for toilet paper because they left just half of a roll in the master bathroom. It would be great if they'd clean out some of the things that would absolutely be unneeded for anyone such as 100 plus paperback books (that filled half the dresser if not more), half used paint cans etc. I fully understand having to buy the things I need while on vacation but to have to buy toilet paper when a rental is as expensive as this one is seems ridiculous. Again, great view and the place has the potential with not all that much work to be beautiful and comfortable for the renters coming in. It seems as if the owner is just in it for the paycheck it provides and as long as that continues then to heck with the little repairs that need done. We will not rent again

It was very hot when we walked in. Horrible! Shower door needs fixing,clean washer machine,it has mold, fridge needs to be cleaned out. Fix all shades in rooms. Dusting needs to happen. Remove paint cans from condo, very dangerous. On a positive note, the views were AMAZING.

Location was perfect. Older building that could use updates and replace outside wicker furniture in the living room. The house was dirty! Hair in bathroom drains. The towels smelled so bad I washed them 4 times, still couldn’t get the smell out so I went out and bought towels. The washing machine has mold all through it.. no cleaning supplies to clean it ourselves so had to purchase that too. For the cost charged to clean, I expected better.

Our group of 6 stayed here for 4 nights- it was centrally located, the amenities in home were so convenient! We felt like we were on vacation while we were here!

Our family enjoyed our stay at this rental. Clean and spacious, had great views and close to everything. Reviews are accurate that the condo is dated in the furniture (carpets) but otherwise comfortable and had everything you would need from towels, toiletries, and kitchen supplies. Would recommend!

Condo has an amazing waterfront view. Nice and cool and shaded in the morning, beautiful view of the sunset. The condo was clean but lots of items in disrepair. The window in the loft does not open and the blinds are broken so it is very warm/uncomfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. Great community grill area and is a nice quiet complex. Great beach about 1/3 mile away. Great shopping center up the hill with grocery and drug store.

We stay at the Surf and Racquet Club every year but will not rent this condo again. It was extremely dirty and furniture was old and very uncomfortable.

We visited Hawaii in January and we were very happy with our location as it had a fabulous view of the ocean. We spent our mornings and evenings on the Lani watching the sunrise and sunset. We did see spinner dolphins and whales from the Lani. I think the unit we stayed in was very comfortable. We did not mind the 3 flights of stairs to access the unit. There was a few minor things that did need maintenance, but we notified Wayne so that he was aware. This is an older unit, but very much worth staying here and will definitely stay here again. The beach is walking distance and we did a lot of snorkeling there, but be aware that a massive wave hit the beach a month prior to our stay and changed the beach from sandy to very rocky. We actually enjoyed it as it is now. The grounds are very neatly kept and beautiful

Cockroaches were the last of our many complaints. The unit appears to have been neglected. Broken, rusty and peeling furniture; dirty upholstery that cleaned up well once WE washed the slip covers. (Couldn’t the landlord have had that done?). One bathroom was not clean, particularly the toilet and surrounding floor; a dirty towel was hanging on the back of the door. There was sand in the carpet and the tile floors, particularly the kitchen, were sticky as if either not washed, or not rinsed thoroughly. Some silverware and glasses were put away dirty. The sheets had questionable stains, some of which came out with rewashing. (Were they washed before we came?) When we arrived the batteries in the AC controller in the living room were dead; took us a while to figure out what was wrong with the unit, which was taxing given the very hot room temperature. The towel bar in the master bath was broken off. One outlet in the kitchen was coming out of the wall.
Property manager and his team were responsive to some of the issues.
In general cleanliness and upkeep was certainly not to the standard we have come to expect. This is our second time renting at the Surf and Racquet Club and tenth on the island. This one was the most expensive, compared to the other two bedroom two bath units in the area, and in the poorest condition. Disappointed indeed.

Our stay at Hale Kania Kai, in the Kona/Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club, was a warm and welcome respite from a Fairbanks winter. It was just what we needed. The third floor unit gave a wonderful view of the breaking surf just below. We watched spinner dolphins and whales from the lanai, which was a comfortable size for four.
The unit was generally clean with the exception of the lanai and all of the fans in each room. I had to sweep up the sand and salt from the lanai before I could walk out there in bare feet. (We followed a shoes off policy in the house.) The overhead and standing fans all had streamers of dust trailing from them and are in need of a good cleaning. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. The living room furniture was not the most comfortable I have sat in, but it did the job. The closet full of beach play equipment was most welcome. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here. The outstanding view far outweighed our few complaints, and we would be happy to stay here again.

Our family of 4 had a great time at the Surf & Racquet Club. We loved everything about the place and would highly recommend it.

This condo has a million dollar view. If you want to be near prime snorkeling spots this is a great location. Also close to a grocery store and other shopping. Ideal condo for a family.

The view from this townhouse is incredible!! From the first day there, we saw whales daily from the lanai. We also saw spinner dolphins swimming and playing. Sleeping with the sound of the ocean every night was fantastic. Good location, 15 from town one direction, 15 minutes to Captain Cooks bay.

We have been coming back to the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club on winter vacations for the past 7 years. It is a great spot. The staff works hard to keep the club in beautiful condition and the location is superb. Unit 3302 is one of the best units. The rental agent for unit 3302 is very responsive. We had an issue with the fridge and there was a serviceman at our door in less than an hour. Excellent. The view from the linai cannot be topped in the morning or at sunset. Great airflow through the unit. We have already booked this unit for our winter vacation next year.

I stayed here for one week in November 2019. I loved the third-story loft unit. The complex is very quiet and near a golf-course and small-but-wonderful shopping center. The host was easy to connect with and his response to two of our concerns was prompt and respectful. The unit was very clean and the beds were comfortable. You'll need to buy most every food item that you'd like to use but that was not a problem for us. We will return for certain!

The condo was in good condition, and was comfortable despite having no AC, which is typical for the area. But the best feature is the view. On one hand, it would have been nice to be closer to the shops and restaurants in Kona (it's about a 10 minute drive), but on the other, it was nice and quiet in this location. There was a grocery store and coffee shop in walking distance. One day, we walked up there and enjoyed the farmer's market. We bought very fresh fish and some vegetables and had one of the best dinners of our entire trip.

We had a nice trip - family of five to Hawaii. Condo was just as advertised. A few things - There is NO AC in the condo. Fans and windows. It was so hot, I did not sleep for the nights we stayed. Just too hot despite the breeze. Screens on the loft fell off when windows were opened. Screens on the patio had holes, so bugs flew right in. We could not get the TV to work. Wifi worked great. Pool was fine. We did not play tennis. Despite the fact that the condo sleeps six, there were only 4 beach towels, and two beach chairs. There was no beach umbrella. We purchased one and left it behind for the next guest. Prepare to DRIVE everywhere. Beautiful beaches for swimming are nearby, but best beaches are in Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay) about a 30-40 minute drive. Convenient to Volcano National Park - perhaps a 2 hour drive.

The condo is perfectly located in a garden-like setting with a sparkling pool, good tennis courts with a stunning view west toward the sunset. The unit was nicely furnished; had basic supplies; and was clean and comfortable.

Let me first start off with a positive. This property is in a great location along ALII Drive, which is the happening strip in Kailua Kona. It’s close to multiple restaurants, shops, beaches, yet it far enough away where you don’t get caught in the traffic congestion. The condo over looks the water, the condo complex facilities: tennis courts and pool, are wonderful. Despite all of this, the condo itself was VERY disappointing. It started off at checkin when the cleaning company was unaware that we we’rechecking in, and were still there when we tried to check in. Part of the problem was a broken bed and they were waiting for maintenance to come and fix it so that they could make the bed. While the ladies were nice, and the maintenance man came within an hour to fix it, we went to make the bed and the sheets were still wet. At this point we were more annoyed than anything, and simply put the sheets in the dryer again (not a deal breaker at this point). That evening my daughter came running out of the bathroom complaining of a ton of aunts over the bathroom sink. Sure enough, they were EVERYWHERE. Tiny aunts that after some research appear to be ghost aunts. When searching for something to kill all the aunts, we discovered cockroaches! From there, the list just kept getting longer: the refrigerator inside doors are broken, the metal pull straps on ALL of the shades are rusted out. Multiple shades are broken off. Then the shade in the loft is falling off and doesn’t close. The lamp in the master bedroom has the bulb part falling out and we had had to fix it in order to turn it on, the screen sliders in each room do not work properly and each side has a screen that won’t open or close all the way, and the window in the kitchen didn’t close all the way or lock, all of the bath towels smelled like mildew despite me washing multiple times, and the washing machine has mold in it! We were so disappointed in this condo. It needs some

Our stay at the Surf and Racquet club was everything we anticipated and more. The Condo was true to the pictures and the View from the Lanai was breathtaking. The only thing wrong was we had to eventually go home. But I left my children with a memory they
will never forget. Hawaii is truly Paradise and those who live there are truly Blessed.

The whole experience from planning all the way until the end was a great experience. First of all, when I had questions prior to the stay, the response time was about 2 hours at the most. The instructions and preparations were spot on so that we were prepared for the home. The location was excellent! The lanai is large and we spend a lot of time enjoying the view. The condo was equipped with nice touches such as beach chairs, snorkel equipment and lots of beach towels. Overall a very nice place. Not quite walking distance to a snorkeling beach but magic sands was a short car ride and is highly recommended.

We recently returned from our stay at this beautiful condo. It was our first time to Hawaii and fell in love with the island and our stay.
There were 6 adults in the condo and were never crowded and loved the amazing view, The condo was spotless and had everything we needed for cooking and enjoying our stay. Beach chairs, and even a cooler were included. Besides groceries there is nothing you need to buy. Plenty of towels and linens were available, Everything has been well thought out. The island contact was very responsive to our questions. I would suggest renting a car as we did a lot of driving to different beaches and site seeing. It is very quiet and the grounds were beautiful. We can't wait to go back!!!

Spacious, well-equipped condo in a beautiful location. Our family of 6 enjoyed our stay here very much! We loved that it was so close to great snorkeling! There is so much to do on this beautiful island and this was a great location to use as a base.
